The August Birthstone – Which Green are you?

Do you sometimes wonder how this world has been gifted with such amazing coloured stones? From the deep red, to the vibrant blues, from the bright orange to the pristine green. There is a stone for all of us! Working with semi-precious stones every single day, we at MirrorWhite are mesmerized by the varied colors in stones. One such stone that caught our notice yesterday was the Peridot – a lovely sea green semi-precious stone and what better month to catch our eye than August?

Peridot is the birthstone for people born in August. It is said that the ancient Egyptians mined peridot on the Red Sea island of Zabargad, the source for many large fine peridots in the world’s museums. The Egyptians called it the “gem of the sun.” Today, this gem is still a priced gemstone for its wonderful colour and its availability in various price points. It is considered one of the most affordable green gemstones.

For all of you who believe in magic, the Peridot is the right stone for you 😉 This stone has a number of magical and healing properties to protect you against nightmares, bring you power and influence, and most of all a wonderful year. This stone is formed deep inside the earth and brought to the surface through volcanoes and in places like Hawaii, Peridot symbolizes the goddess of fire and volcanoes.
